Take a look inside our Press area...

In 1974 Gateway established its own in-house Ink Department. Shown here are Joe Dyer (foreground) and Mark Burrice as they prepare ink for one of the heat set web presses.

Eric Thomas adjusts the infeed and Todd Howell prepares to hang a plate during a job makeready on the Mitsubishi Six Color 28x40 Sheet Fed Press. This is one of Gateway’s three sheetfed presses.

Headpressmen Ronnie Howell  discusses important information about the current job at the console for the Mitsubishi Six Color Press.

Greg Mattingly makes color adjustments to a job on the Heidelberg M-600 Eight Unit Heat Set Web Press while Norris Gantt loads a plate for the next section into the auto-plate system. The auto-plate cuts up to 45 minutes off each makeready, making jobs less costly to produce.

Headpressman Mark Hardin and Director Dennis Brown discuss an upcoming job for the Heidelberg M-600 Eight Unit Heat Set Web Press. The M-600’s folder can produce over 20 different folds. The press is also equipped with a rotary trimmer to produce press pasted finished products.

David Smith makes adjustments to the Blava Plus II Double Former Folder/ Sheeter on the Harris M-300 Four Unit Heat Set Web Press. The Blava allows us to produce multiple 4-page or 8-page sections from a single impression. It also gives us the capability of producing full size sheets, up to 23”x35”.

Jeff Chandler lines up web stock rolls to be loaded into the roll stands on the Hantscho Mark-16 Eight Unit Heat Set Web Press. Sr. Vice President Ed Ryan discusses a makeready with Ray Brown while a pressman hangs a plate in one of the eight units.

Shown here is the 24,000 sq ft main web pressroom where three of Gateway’s four web presses are located. The forth web press is located on approximately 5,000 sq ft of the adjoining warehouse at the end of this room.
